Job summary

SOGECLAIR is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work on Learjets, Challengers, and Global aircraft. You will prepare specifications, drawings, and test reports, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to implement modifications.

The role requires advanced knowledge of aviation regulations (FAA/EASA/TCCA) and CFR Part 25 design principles, with 8+ years in mechanical design. Strong communication and team skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/E aerospace/E electrical engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years in mechanical design engineering role with aviation focus.
  • Familiar with FAA/EASA/TCCA regulatory certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of CFR Part 25 aircraft mechanical design requirements.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft materials, standard parts and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documents for mechanical system modifications (specifications, drawings, reports).
  • Collaborate with vendors, internal departments and other engineering disciplines.
  • Support change management through research, design reviews, and trade studies.
  • Research component specifications; assist with production investigations and issue resolution.
  • Support statements of work and bids for new customer requests.
  • Review supplier and internal Work Package documentation.
  • Coordinate configurations and requirements for optional aircraft systems.
  • Provide extensive coordination with suppliers and internal support groups.
  • Contribute to root cause analyses and propose solutions.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to meet program goals.

Job description

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare all necessary documents, such as specifications, mechanical drawings, and reports related to aircraft mechanical system modifications.
  • Work with outside vendors, internal departments and other engineering disciplines for design engineering on Learjets, Challengers, and Global aircraft.
  • Support change management through research, concepts, design reviews, trade studies, impact analysis, and implementation.
  • Research specifications for components selections. Work with suppliers and internal customers to assist with production investigating, troubleshooting, and resolution of build and test issues.
  • Support statement of work and bids for new customer requests.
  • Review supplier and other internal Work Package (WP) documentation.
  • Coordinate configurations and requirements for optional systems on the aircraft.
  • Provide extensive coordination with suppliers and internal support groups.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Provide input to root cause analyses and proposed solutions.
Requirements
YOUR PROFILE IS ESSENTIAL TO OUR SUCCESS
  • You hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years working in mechanical design engineering capacity.
  • You have extensive knowledge of applicable regulatory certification rules (FAA, EASA, TCCA).
  • You have a knowledge of mechanical system design requirements for CFR Part 25 aircraft.
  • You have working knowledge of aircraft materials, standard parts and procedures required.
  • You must be able to define requirements, develop new designs and perform engineering duties to see projects and programs to completion.
  • You must be able to provide input to technical solutions on a wide range of problems.
  • You must be a self-starter, able to decompose moderately complex projects into individual tasks and processes.
  • You must exhibit excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • You should be an organized individual, able to work effectively with a variety of cross-functional individuals, departments and organizations with a general good attitude and disposition.
  • You must be proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
