Senior Field Superintendent

The Senior Field Superintendent supervises and coordinates construction activities of datacenters, reporting directly to Applied Digital’s Campus Project Director. The role ensures project success by monitoring and facilitating collaboration among Applied Digital, contractors, subcontractors, 3rd‑party vendors/contractors, and regulatory bodies, requiring technical expertise, communication skills, and project management acumen.

  • Redevelopment or upgrade of existing properties to state‑of‑the‑art data centers
  • Expansion of data centers and critical infrastructure within existing facilities or on existing property
  • Large customer fit‑outs and retrofits to accommodate customer occupancy and deployment needs
Duties
Scope Specific
  • Depends on qualifications; the role is available to Mechanical and Electrical scope experts.
  • Staffing duties as outlined below for the selected scope.
EH&S Job Site Specific (Primary and Supporting Role)
  • Collaborate with APLD on‑site EH&S to establish and sustain health, safety, and security controls in accordance with corporate objectives.
Procurement (Primary Responsibility)
  • Ensure the GC manages site logistics for APLD owner‑furnished equipment, understanding the full OFCI process.
  • Work with the Project Manager to receive approved submittals for all owner‑furnished equipment.
  • Inspect and check in all Applied Digital‑furnished equipment and materials that arrive at the jobsite.
Construction Management, Administration & Management (Primary Responsibility)
  • Be on site on behalf of APLD Monday‑Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; weekends or evenings may be required.
  • Notify APLD of neighbor or jurisdiction complaints or issues.
  • Participate in GC‑led weekly meetings, including OAC, subcontractor coordination, pull planning, design, BIM/VDC meetings, RFI/submittal, etc.
  • Provide onsite technical SME support, ROJ dates, visual inspections, and quality control of OFCI and CFCI equipment.
  • Manage team members, stakeholders, neighboring properties, contractors, utility providers, and inspection agencies.
  • Address disputes or conflicts, escalating to the Project Manager when appropriate.
  • Understand key schedule milestones and actively track contractor activities.
  • Prepare clear monthly/weekly progress reports, including plan, actual, variance, risk, and mitigation measures.
Quality Control (Primary Responsibility)
  • Manage onsite job photography.
  • Review GC’s Quality Control plan and align it with APLD specifications.
  • Drive closure of punch‑list items and expedite turnover to Operations.
  • Develop and monitor quality program metrics and correct problematic trends.
  • Ensure contractors follow site cleanliness plans and industry best practices for data center construction.
  • Review owner‑provided specialty testing and inspections conducted by contractors.
Site Security (Primary Responsibility)
  • Ensure the GC manages the site to the agreed security plan.
Billing, Invoice Processing & Change Management (Primary Responsibility)
  • Assist with pay monitoring and control to keep the project within budget.
  • Review change orders and pay applications with the Applied Digital Project Manager.
  • Support Engineering, CxA for startup and commissioning as needed.
Closeout & Turn‑over (Primary Responsibility)
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and APLD Engineering/Turn‑over team to collect and review Turnover Package for completeness and accuracy.
Other Duties
  • Demonstrate the behaviors of an APLD Construction Manager: proactive, leader in the room, energy supplier.
  • Manage special or atypical projects as assigned.
  • Assist Sales or Finance as directed by Supervisor.
  • Facilitate inter‑departmental coordination with DCO, Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Engineering.
  • Lead or assist in process improvement initiatives with Supervisor.
  • Act as APLD site logistics lead for office trailer, signage, equipment, UTVs, etc.
  • Manage tour requests and site visits on behalf of APLD.

  • Understanding of CPM Schedule Logic.
