Job summary

PIC Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to provide owner-side engineering leadership for gas turbine power generation projects, from development through procurement, EPC execution, commissioning, and operations.

The role focuses on gas turbines, mechanical BOP, and auxiliaries, serving as a technical interface with OEMs, EPC contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure performance, reliability, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in gas turbine power generation.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as owner's technical lead for gas turbines and BOP systems.
• Provide engineering oversight of turbine fuel gas, lubrication, inlet air, exhaust, cooling, and other auxiliaries.
• Review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specs, data sheets, and piping layouts.
• Support technology evaluation, design, and procurement specifications.
• Develop and review RFQs and vendor proposals.
• Oversee EPC contractors and OEMs during engineering, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
• Support emissions control and environmental compliance activities.
• Maintain field reports using project management systems.

Key Project Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required; ability to travel approximately 25%.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience supporting gas turbine power generation projects, with strong simple-cycle experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of gas turbines, turbine auxiliary systems, mechanical balance-of-plant equipment, piping, and package integration.
• Experience supporting project development and EPC execution, including technical coordination with OEMs, EPC contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to provide owner-side engineering leadership for the development and execution of gas turbine power generation projects. This position will support projects from development and technology selection through procurement, EPC execution, commissioning, and operations, with primary responsibility for gas turbines, mechanical balance-of-plant systems, and associated auxiliaries. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical interface with OEMs, EPC contractors, Owner's Engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders while ensuring project designs meet requirements for performance, reliability, maintainability, environmental compliance, and lifecycle cost.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Serve as the owner's technical lead for gas turbines and associated mechanical balance-of-plant systems throughout project development and execution.
• Provide engineering oversight for gas turbines, fuel gas systems, lubrication and hydraulic systems, inlet air systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, heat rejection equipment, fire protection, ventilation, and other plant auxiliaries.
• Review and provide technical direction on PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, data sheets, piping layouts, thermal calculations, equipment interfaces, and other engineering deliverables.
• Support gas turbine technology evaluation, conceptual design, equipment selection, performance requirements, and development of technical specifications for procurement and EPC contracts.
• Develop and review RFQs, technical bid evaluations, vendor proposals, equipment deviations, change orders, warranties, and technical contract requirements.
• Provide technical oversight of EPC contractors and equipment OEMs during engineering, fabrication, construction, commissioning, performance testing, and project turnover.
• Support emissions control and environmental compliance activities, including SCR and oxidation catalyst systems, air permitting requirements, emissions modeling inputs, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in HAZOP/HAZID reviews, FATs, SATs, commissioning, startup, performance testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues.Maintain clear field reports and supporting documentation using Invenergy's project construction management systems.
• Maintain the owner's expectations for quality, safety, and execution whether or not a client manager is physically observing the work.

Job Requirements

• Strong knowledge of simple-cycle gas turbine generating facilities and mechanical balance-of-plant systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical interfaces between gas turbine OEMs, EPC contractors, engineering firms, vendors, and project owners.
• Experience reviewing mechanical engineering designs, specifications, P&IDs/PFDs, equipment packages, and vendor documentation.
• Working knowledge of emissions control technologies, environmental requirements, and air permitting considerations associated with gas turbine generation.
• Strong technical, commercial, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, construction, operations, and executive teams.
• Hands-on, self-directed approach with the ability to make decisions independently and operate effectively within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization.

Education / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
• 10+ years of experience supporting gas turbine power generation projects.
• Simple-cycle and/or combined-cycle project development, execution, or commissioning experience preferred.
• PE license preferred.
