Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to lead pump station design for water and wastewater facilities in the Greater New York Area. The role emphasizes technical design, piping, pumps, and process systems across PS&E packages, with mentorship of junior staff and collaboration with project managers and clients.

The position requires a BA/BS with eight years of relevant experience (or equivalent), PE preferred, and expertise in AutoCAD/BIM.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree plus eight years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Experience in the water/wastewater industry.
• Professional Engineering License (PE), New York or New Jersey preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Experience managing a team and developing junior staff.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Senior technical resource may serve as technical lead or advisor for team.
• Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer and design/drafting technical staff.
• Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
• Serve as design manager and lead project tasks, in collaboration with project managers and clients, in planning, design, permitting and construction of wastewater and/or reclaimed water facilities including but not limited to treatment facilities and conveyance systems as well as creating and/or overseeing the preparation of construction documents (drawings and specifications) and permit applications, as well as handling construction.
