Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our team supporting large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. You will develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems across various project stages, collaborating with project teams to provide strategic cost advice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in estimation and cost control.
  • Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with program-level cost management for large projects.
  • Knowledge of value management and value engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems in large projects.
  • Review plans and specs to determine scope and materials.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop cost management plans.
  • Offer value engineering options to optimize cost.
  • Perform cost risk analysis and support VE activities.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Utilize estimating software to prepare reports and estimates.
  • Provide guidance and analysis to project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to developing estimating standards and practices.
  • Adhere to SOX controls where applicable.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry methodologies.

Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team supporting large-scale, mission-critical construction projects. This role will be responsible for developing detailed and accurate cost estimates for complex mechanical systems across hyperscale and enterprise data center developments throughout various stages of the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience estimating mechanical scopes within large commercial, industrial, or mission-critical environments, with a strong understanding of HVAC systems, piping, plumbing, fire protection, and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams and key stakeholders to provide strategic cost advice, support value engineering initiatives, and contribute to successful project delivery within fast-paced, highly technical construction environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems in construction projects.
  • Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and required materials.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive cost management plans.
  • Analyze project requirements and provide value engineering options.
  • Perform cost risk analysis and provide input into value engineering.
  • Communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize industry-specific estimating software and tools to prepare estimates.
  • Provide estimating advice, guidance, and analysis to project stakeholders.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-specific estimating processes and methodologies.
  • Prepare formal estimating reports, including quantity, cost, escalation, and other assumptions and clarifications.
  • Assist in the development of estimating standards and best practices.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Thrives in a client facing role.
  • Experience supporting program level cost management for medium or large-scale construction projects.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering
  • Excellent communication skills
