Job summary

The Christman Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead regional estimating and preconstruction efforts for MEP projects. This role focuses on producing accurate budgets and estimates from schematic documents and coordinating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

You will supervise estimators, develop conceptual and detailed estimates, and drive the bid process across multiple projects while mentoring junior team members and presenting results to clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field.
• Eight years of estimating experience in construction or related field.
• OR equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience

Responsibilities

• Supervise, check work, and mentor Estimators and Estimating Engineers.
• Develops and oversees conceptual estimates for assigned projects, supports planning/engineering in all levels of estimates.
• Leads major estimating efforts.
• Develops and clarifies estimate reports.

As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will assist throughout the preconstruction process by leading conceptual estimating efforts to produce accurate construction cost budgets and estimates. This role will focus on MEP costs and provide input to conceptualize and interpret the scope from incomplete or schematic documents. You will be relied upon to successfully deliver design phase services and will have the opportunity to assist with multiple projects at once.

What You Will Do:

As Senior Estimator, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• Supervise, check work, and mentor Estimators and Estimating Engineers.
• Develops and oversees conceptual estimates for assigned projects, supports the planning and engineering groups in the development of all levels of estimates, and collects and analyzes close-out and benchmark data.
• Leads major estimating efforts.
• Develops and clarifies estimate reports.
• Cultivates strong subcontractor knowledge and relations.
• Experienced in presenting estimating results to clients and stakeholders.
• Demonstrates knowledge of all civil structure architectural trades.
• Competent at conceptual and detailed levels of estimating.
• Value engineering leadership and tracking.
• Drives deadlines and achieves results.
• Mastery of scope review process.
• Mastery of estimating software programs including on-screen take-off.
• Consults with architects and engineers on project parameters.
• Ensures database-pricing updates are completed.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related job field.
• Eight (8) years of estimating experience in construction or related job field.
• OR equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Capability to complete large Construction Management (CM) and General Contractor (GC) Construction Management at Risk and Design Build projects and large complex competitive bid projects.

• History of successfully working relationships with the internal operation team and externally with owners, architects/engineers, and subcontractors.
