Starpath is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Rotary Actuators) to own the architecture, design, and verification of mechanisms that deploy and orient Starlight solar arrays. You will lead trade studies, select components, and ensure flight-qualified performance across vacuum and thermal cycles.

The role requires deep expertise in rotary mechanisms, materials, lubrication, and precision manufacturing, with leadership across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and related discipline.
• 6+ years designing mechanisms, actuators, or precision mechanical systems.
• Ownership of complex hardware from concept through build and test.
• Experience designing rotary mechanisms such as actuators, gearboxes, gimbals, hinges, or deployments.

Responsabilités

• Own rotary actuator and mechanism designs from architecture through flight.
• Lead technical trade studies on performance, mass, reliability, and cost.
• Select and integrate motors, gearheads, bearings, dampers, sensors.
• Size drivetrains for torque, speed, stiffness, and mission life.
• Lead mechanism reviews, failure investigations, and risk reduction.
