Job summary

Enphase Energy in Austin, TX, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the integration of high-current busbar assemblies, wire harnesses, and electronic board packaging for our Solid State Transformer product. You will design and validate mechanical solutions that meet electrical, thermal, and manufacturability requirements, collaborating with internal and contract manufacturing partners.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in mechanical design and integration of electrical support equipment for power electronics.
• Strong proficiency in busbar design, insulation systems, and thermal rise calculations.
• Experience in wire harness design, routing, connector selection, and harness drawings.
• Experience designing mechanical packaging for electronic boards including thermal management and EMI considerations.
• Ability to work independently on early-stage product development with ambiguous requirements.
• Proven capability to design for manufacturing and collaborate with contract manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Design high-current busbar assemblies with thermal and mounting considerations.
• Own wire harness design, routing, connectors, and harness drawings.
• Design electronic board packaging including EMI shielding and thermal management.
• Specify connectors and interconnect systems for reliability and producibility.
• Perform insulation coordination per IEC 60664-1 and select insulating materials.
• Produce 2D drawings and 3D CAD models; collaborate with stakeholders and CM partners.
• Execute verification tests and document results; mentor junior staff.
