Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a proactive Sr. Mechanical Engineer with analytical capabilities and demonstrated technical expertise. This individual will support the design, development, integration/test, and production of dynamic electronic military systems. The engineer will work closely with hardware integrated into complex countermeasure and electromagnetic attack solutions, including compact electronic warfare systems. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with development experience working with integrated military electronic hardware and test equipment.

The selected candidate will execute tasks both individually and in small, dynamic teams through various product lifecycle phases such as concept development, detailed design, qualification, and manufacturing transition. Responsibilities include solving production issues, developing robust hardware solutions, and leveraging mechanical engineering expertise for detailed design and analysis. Daily activities involve root cause analysis, working with manufacturing teams and suppliers, generating 3D models, drawings, documentation using GD&T principles, tolerance analyses, thermal, structural/stress, vibration analyses, environmental assessments, and prototyping for testing and verification.

The role requires collaboration with other engineering disciplines and operations to develop solutions adhering to UPC, DFT, and DFM standards. It also involves resolving technical issues during manufacturing and testing, troubleshooting mechanical faults, assessing test failures, and designing test equipment to ensure product performance and integrity.

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  1. Design, development, and analysis of electromechanical hardware and systems
  2. Product and factory support of DoD military electronics/avionics
  3. Mechanical design and development tools
  4. Design and analysis of multilayer CCAs
  5. Prototyping and testing
  6. Laboratory instrumentation and processes
  7. Military and industry standards (MIL, ASTM, SAE, DO)
  8. Engineering documentation and presentations

This environment encourages leadership and technical growth. Due to the nature of the role, work will be performed onsite full-time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering + 5+ years' experience (or 4+ years with master's)
  • Experience in product development/support of DoD military electronics
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, analysis, documentation
  • Proficiency with modern mechanical engineering software tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated problem solver experienced in multidisciplinary teams
  • Basic computer skills and technical programs
  • Knowledge of engineering development processes
  • Eligibility for DOD Security Clearance
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Manufacturing, production, and sustainment of mechanical systems
  • Design/development of complex mechanical systems and hardware
  • Design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies
  • Experience with ANSYS, PTC Creo, MATLAB/Simulink, Siemens NX, ANSYS Icepak
  • Knowledge of DFM principles
Pay and Benefits

Salary Range: $89,650 - $152,460. Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, life insurance, paid time off, holidays, parental/military/bereavement leave, and employee recognition programs.
