Job summary

Trystar is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts in Power Conversion Solutions, delivering robust mechanical designs and guiding projects from concept to production.

You’ll collaborate with R&D, QA, Manufacturing and suppliers, perform thermal/FEA/CFD analyses, develop 3D CAD models and enclosures, manage BOMs, and mentor other engineers. In‑person work is required at Burnsville, MN; Houston, TX; Charlotte, NC; or Merrimack, NH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in power electronics.
• Experience with electrical enclosures, panel layout, heat management.
• Proficiency with ERP and CAD systems (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Knowledge of industry codes: ASME, NEMA, UL, IEC.
• Travel up to 20% in USA/Canada.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete mechanical design, including layout, modeling, drawings.
• Support thermal analysis, FEA, CFD simulations.
• Define, design, prototype, validate, and support mechanical systems for products.
• Lead mechanical design reviews and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with hardware design for PCB mounting and packaging.
• Develop 3D CAD models and drawings including enclosures.
• Collaborate with QA, Manufacturing, Assembly to improve designs.
• Design and validate fixtures; support prototypes and production launches.
• Manage BOMs and documentation using Empower, PDM, Epicor.
• Respond to vendor questions on mechanical parts (changes, obsolescence).
• Document mechanical requirements and best practices for enclosures.
• Contribute to standardizing design practices across sites.
• Provide mentorship to engineers and technicians.
