Job summary

Attalon, Inc. in Traverse City, Michigan is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join our new product development team. The role focuses on designing and testing mechanical, optical and electronic components and devices for high‑power photonics applications, within a cross‑functional environment.

You will lead development projects, interact with customers and suppliers, and contribute to documenting procedures, BOMs, and test methods in a fast‑paced, ISO‑aligned facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or physics is required.
• 5+ years of engineering/product development experience.
• Modeling proficiency in Solidworks, CATIA or Siemens NX.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14 GD&T standards and tolerancing.

Responsibilities

• Design and testing of mechanical, optical and electronic components and devices.
• Lead product development projects and report status to management.
• Create and maintain drawings, BOMs, assembly procedures and test procedures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and with customers/suppliers.
• Summarize research on advanced materials and technologies.
