Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, including Justice+Civic building systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering for justice facilities.
  • Knowledge of smoke control, security requirements, and building codes.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage client expectations.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration across design disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple projects and staff across regions to ensure design criteria for justice projects and train teams.
  • Assure quality of design and adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Manage project execution and maintain client expectations.
  • Track milestones and deliverables, produce status reports.
  • Facilitate and document meetings with staff, clients, vendors, and consultants.
  • Contribute to RFP responses and participate in client interviews.
  • Lead the design on projects of significance.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers as part of an integrated design process.
  • Carry out technical reviews before issuance.
  • Represent DLR Group at meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers.

SeniorMechanicalEngineer - Justice + Civic

As a SeniorMechanicalEngineer focused on elevating our work within the Justice + Civic sector, you will have the opportunity to work onhighly complexprojects while collaborating with the sector team to achieve our business plan goals. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce high-quality construction documents and manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements. You will collaborate closely with all disciplines to produce highly integrated building designs.

You will collaborate with the sector leadership team to develop and execute strategies for business development, growing our integrated practice.You will play a key role in client relationship development and management. You will also guide the engineering team to ensure deliverables are of a consistent quality and within budget.

The successful candidate will

  • Lead multiple projects and staff over multiple regions to assure local teams of engineers know the specific design criteria of justice projects and train engineering teams in the project type
  • Assure quality of design produced by teams through multiple touch points
  • Manage engineering project execution, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and scope whilemaintainingclient expectations
  • Track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards and preparing regular status reports
  • Facilitate and document meetings with staff and clients, coordinating project personnel, vendors, and consultants
  • Actively engage in business development initiatives by contributing to RFP responses,participatingin clientinterviewsand fostering client relationships
  • Lead the design on projects of significance
  • Collaborate early and often with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process
  • Carry out technical review of interdisciplinary teams prior to issuance
  • Represent DLR Group at meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanicalor Architectural Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 15+ years of experience working as an engineer, including design of building systems related to Justice+ Civic sector.
  • A strong understanding ofMechanicalengineeringknowledge:
  • Smoke control systems design and coordination with smoke modeling consultants
  • Specific mechanical and plumbing systems used in justice facilities
  • Security requirements of justice facilities and how mechanical and plumbing systems tie into security systems
  • Familiarity with facility operations and maintenance of building systems
  • Working knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines
  • Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of business management and customer service principles
  • Knowledge of local building and energy codes
  • Demonstrated record of consistent quality work
  • Ability to lead others and foster teamwork
  • Knowledge and support of DLR Group's climate action strategy and commitments, including AIA2030, MEP2040 and SE2050

The suggested pay range for this position is:

Pay Range

$102,000-$160,000 USD
