Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC/plumbing expertise to advance project leadership and create sustainable environments. A hybrid work setup is offered, with potential offices across multiple regions and travel as needed.

You will design systems, mentor junior engineers, and work with sales, regulatory teams, and clients to ensure high performance and regulatory compliance on complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• EIT certification or FE exam within 18 months of hire/promotions.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems including master planning and feasibility studies, integrating sustainability and energy efficiency.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and firm policies.
• Perform site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications.
• Contribute to Technical Knowledge Management with white papers and design documentation.
• Attend industry conferences and collaborate with sales teams to maximize outreach.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff and supervise project work as needed.
