Job summary

Annapolis Micro Systems, Inc. seeks a self-motivated mechanical engineer to design high-performance PCB heatsinks, enclosures, and related components. You will collaborate with PCB designers to optimize convection and conduction cooling, and perform thermal simulations to ensure proper cooling of PCB assemblies.

The role involves guiding design practices, approving fixtures, and producing fabrication drawings and BOMs for on-site manufacturing, in a fast-paced, small-company environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• U.S. Citizenship
• Experience with Mechanical Design
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
• Proficiency with Thermal Simulation Tools
• Experience with Rugged PCB and Electronic Systems
• Familiarity with Shock & Vibration specs
• Knowledge of Electro-Mechanical cooling (convection & conduction)
• PCB and Chassis knowledge
• Experience with VPX, PCI Express & related standards
• ISO 9001 procedures experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Create accurate and high-performance designs of PCB Heatsinks, Face Plates, Brackets, Enclosures, etc.
• Design required conduction-cooled components for manufacture
• Provide guidance to PCB Designers for convection and conduction cooling
• Perform thermal simulations to ensure proper cooling of PCB assemblies
• Ensure mechanical compatibility between PCB assemblies
• Approve the design of fixtures to support the on-site manufacturing team
• Maintain Mechanical Design Procedures to ensure repeatability in a high quality design process
• Publish mechanical drawings for component fabrication
• Publish Mechanical BOMs for purchasing
