Job summary

Allen & Shariff is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Designer to join our growing Chicago team. You will independently manage multiple concurrent projects, both in design and construction, and prepare contract documents and specifications for complex building systems.

Responsibilities include full HVAC design, coordination with clients, and field coordination with construction teams. Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is required, along with excellent technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical focus).
• At least 10 years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform full design of HVAC systems, including full equipment selection for medium to large commercial projects.
• Analyze system options and evaluate existing systems where appropriate.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion with A+S and clients.
• Produce full design in AutoCAD and Revit as required by the architect.
• Write specifications and provide bid and construction phase services including RFIs and shop drawings.
• Provide field observation reports and participate in project walk-throughs.
• Serve as a technical expert and resource for HVAC systems.

A+S is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Designer to join our growing Chicago team. The Senior Engineer/Designer will work independently on multiple concurrent projects, both in design and construction, and be responsible for the preparation of contract documents and specifications for complex building systems. This encompasses advanced calculations, systems analysis, quality control of finished projects, and field/construction coordination activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform full design of HVAC systems, including full equipment selection, for medium to large commercial projects
• Analyze system options and evaluate existing systems where appropriate.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within A+S and externally with clients.
• Complete full design in accordance with code. Production is performed using AutoCAD & Revit depending on preference of architect.
• Write specifications.
• Provide bid and construction phase services including reviewing bids, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, participating in project walk-throughs, and providing field observation reports.
• Must be proficient in a variety of HVAC systems and shall be considered a technical expert and resource to the office.
