Job summary

Zipline in California is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to own the design of mechanical and electromechanical subsystems for next generation delivery systems. You will shape architecture, select components, and drive designs from concept to production in a fast-paced environment.

Collaborate across Electrical, Software, Civil, NPI and supply chain teams to translate prototypes into scalable production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design delivering subsystems
• Experience owning subassemblies or full systems across product programs
• Strong CAD and documentation skills with 3D assemblies and 2D drawings

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of mechanical/electromechanical subsystems from requirements to production ramp
• Produce system-level trade studies, tolerances, and basis for safety-critical loads
• Create CAD assemblies and manufacturing documentation for 20–100 part systems
• Develop and execute verification plans and test campaigns; drive corrective actions
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, and NPI handoff to reduce cycle times
• Collaborate with Systems, Software, Production, Reliability and Field Ops
• Translate prototypes into cost-conscious designs for medium-volume production
• Mentor peers and raise mechanical design practices
