Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in Huntsville, AL seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and test mechanical systems for high-altitude aerospace applications.

You will lead thermal, structural, dynamic and packaging efforts for electronic equipment and electric machines, and guide development with sub-contractors. Candidates should have 8–12 years in mechanical engineering with production-rotating electrical machines, MIL-STD 961D or equivalent, SolidWorks, ANSYS, and thermal management

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of mechanical engineering experience with production rotating electrical machines and packaging for aerospace/industrial use.
  • Experience developing subsystem requirements to MIL-STD 961D or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools for mechanical design, analysis and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support thermal, structural, dynamic and fluid flow analysis for electronics equipment.
  • Lead testing and data collection in lab and field environments.
  • Develop mechanical drawings and tolerances, assembly instructions and test procedures.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors on mid-size development efforts.
