Job summary

HEPCO, Inc. seeks a Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer to lead hardware development for aerospace/defense programs in Palm Bay, FL. This permanent role covers full lifecycle from requirements to testing of complex mechanical hardware and electromechanical systems.

The engineer will guide hardware teams, conduct trade studies and design optimization, and ensure GD&T and ASME Y14.5 compliance. Active TS/SCI or cleared status is preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 6 years experience, or graduate degree with 4 years experience.
• Experience in mechanical design and hardware development for high-reliability environments such as aerospace/defense.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo or similar).
• Working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical/electromechanical systems.
• Ability to support design reviews and development milestones.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of complex hardware assemblies and subsystems.
• Perform analysis, trade studies, and design optimization for mechanical solutions.
• Create and review technical data packages, drawings, models and docs.
• Support prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, qualification, and testing.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and reports for validation.
• Participate in design reviews and engineering change activities.
• Provide guidance to designers, technicians, and manufacturing teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across systems, manufacturing, and program mgmt.
