Job summary

Actalent's client in Seattle, WA is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager for a hybrid role focused on large-scale MEP consulting projects.

You will lead building systems design, manage budgets and schedules, and maintain strong client relationships while directing EOR activities and project execution. The role requires extensive experience in HVAC systems, Revit and AutoCAD proficiency, and leadership responsibilities across engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • 6-12+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience within the building systems industry.
  • Experience in MEP consulting environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams while managing project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer and/or Engineer of Record (EOR) on building systems projects.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout design, engineering, and project execution activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
  • Present engineering solutions and design concepts to clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project interviews and business development activities.
  • Manage project financial performance, including resource planning, billing, and profitability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support professional development across engineering teams.
  • Contribute to company standards, technical procedures, and operational improvements.
  • Support quality assurance efforts and ensure adherence to project Quality Management Plans (QMP).
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines and external project partners to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes and engineering workflows.

Job Description

Our client in Seattle, WA is currently hiring for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager. This position is a hybrid opportunity supporting large-scale MEP consulting projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical building systems design, project management, client-facing engineering consulting, and leadership within the MEP industry.

Pay - $120,000 - $180,000 annually

Location - Seattle, WA or Spokane, WA (Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite)

Schedule - Standard Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

Qualification Requirements
  • 6-12+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience within the building systems industry.
  • Experience working within the MEP consulting environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Experience serving in project management and engineering leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building systems design.
  • Proficiency with Revit (required).
  • Experience using AutoCAD and related design software.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Strong understanding of project financials, resource allocation, and operational performance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff.
  • Ability to work from either the Seattle or Spokane office location.
Disqualifiers
  • No Revit experience.
  • No experience within the MEP consulting industry.
  • No experience managing engineering projects or leading project teams.
  • No experience with building systems design.
  • Limited client-facing consulting experience.
  • Less than 6 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
