Job summary

Fortna is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical engineering execution of complex material handling and conveyor projects from design through installation. You will coordinate with project teams, vendors, and field personnel to ensure quality and on-time delivery while maintaining design integrity and safety standards across all phases of projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6–10 years of material handling or conveyor systems engineering experience.
• Experience leading medium to large engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, mechanical design, and engineering standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor; Navisworks, BIM, and Microsoft Project is a plus.

• Coordinate engineering activities with Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Purchasing, Fabrication, and Field Installation.
• Mentor and support Project Engineers and designers by providing technical guidance and coaching.
• Review engineering drawings for quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering quality, customer satisfaction, and project execution.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads the mechanical engineering execution of complex material handling and conveyor system projects from design through installation.

Required Qualifications

• 6–10 years of material handling or conveyor systems engineering experience.
• Experience leading medium to large engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, mechanical design, and engineering standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor; experience with Navisworks, BIM, and Microsoft Project is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.

Additional Information

Travel: Approximately 10% domestic travel based on project needs.
