Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC systems for commercial and educational facilities, including load calculations, air‑unit and chiller equipment selections, ductwork, pump and pipe sizing, and layout.
  • Prepare and review QA/QC construction documents and design ideas and solutions.
  • Mentor and train other designers, operators, or engineers.
  • Develop and modify Revit models of plumbing and HVAC systems and components according to established standards.
  • Review Revit modeling techniques in collaboration with the engineering team and project managers.
  • Manage the execution of the design for Revit models and AutoCAD documents for multiple projects.
  • Oversee equipment schedules, making changes and adjustments as necessary with input from the engineering team.
  • Use Revit to manage interferences with other building elements and resolve conflicts with team members.
  • Interpret consultant design documents and design the necessary HVAC system.
  • Utilize knowledge of design techniques and principles to mentor and train other designers and engineers involved in the production of plans, sections, diagrams, equipment schedules, and drawings.
  • Organize detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
  • Produce coordinated floor plans, riser diagrams, and isometrics for complex HVAC systems.
  • Monitor installation of equipment and systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
  • Direct junior staff on HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and sizing.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of work experience with an engineering consulting firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering technology degree.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Physical ability and willingness to conduct site inspections and fieldwork, such as climbing ladders and walking on roofs.
  • Strong self‑assessment skills and a high level of accuracy.
  • PE license (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Project experience in the K‑12 educational market.
  • Expert knowledge of MEP energy compliance calculations and Title‑24 documentation using EnergyPro software.
