Job summary

SiLC Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the detailed mechanical design, integration, analysis and validation of advanced LiDAR products.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience or MS with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong experience with precision mechanical design, optomechanical integration and hardware development from concept through production.
  • GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, materials, machining, sheet metal, castings, molded parts and fastening methods.
  • Structural, thermal or dynamic simulation and validation against lab or production data.
  • Experience supporting shock, vibration, environmental, reliability or qualification testing.
  • SolidWorks and PDM; COMSOL Multiphysics or similar CAE tools.
  • Ability to decide trade-offs and communicate across technical teams.
  • Experience with precision rotating mechanisms, encoders, scanners or motion-control hardware is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical architectures and detailed designs for LiDAR assemblies, including precision structures, enclosures, mounts, scanners and electro-optical packaging.
  • Integrate lasers, optics, photonic components, electronics, thermal solutions and moving mechanisms while protecting alignment and system performance.
  • Perform or guide structural, thermal and dynamic analyses; correlate models against characterization and test data.
  • Design for shock, vibration, environmental durability, reliability and serviceability; support qualification planning and execution.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials selection and design reviews to achieve precision, robustness and production yield.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials and change documentation using CAD and PLM tools.
  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers on DFM/DFA, cost optimization, tooling, assembly processes, root-cause analysis and production ramp.
  • Serve as a technical owner for assigned subsystems, coordinating schedules, risks, decisions and cross-functional trade-offs.
  • Contribute to improvements in product architecture, test strategy and engineering processes while mentoring less-experienced engineers.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will own the detailed mechanical design, integration, analysis and validation of advanced LiDAR products. This hands-on role converts system requirements into robust, manufacturable hardware and works closely with electrical, optics, photonics, firmware, software, systems and manufacturing teams from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical architectures and detailed designs for LiDAR assemblies, including precision structures, enclosures, mounts, scanners and electro-optical packaging.
  • Integrate lasers, optics, photonic components, electronics, thermal solutions and moving mechanisms while protecting alignment and system performance.
  • Perform or guide structural, thermal and dynamic analyses; correlate models against characterization and test data.
  • Design for shock, vibration, environmental durability, reliability and serviceability; support qualification planning and execution.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials selection and design reviews to achieve precision, robustness and production yield.

  • Experience supporting shock, vibration, environmental, reliability or qualification testing.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM; experience with COMSOL Multiphysics or comparable CAE tools.
  • Ability to make sound engineering decisions, document trade-offs and communicate clearly across technical teams.
  • Experience with precision rotating mechanisms, encoders, scanners or motion-control hardware is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with LiDAR, optical sensing, imaging, photonics or semiconductor/laser-based products.
  • Knowledge of optical alignment, photonic packaging, thermal control of high-power devices and cleanliness-sensitive assemblies.
  • Experience with NPI, supplier qualification, contract manufacturing and sustaining engineering.
  • Experience developing products subject to automotive, industrial or other demanding reliability and environmental requirements.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical workstreams without relying on direct reporting authority.
