Job summary

Lumicity is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Bay Area to drive a medical device from concept through launch. You will own end-to-end product development, focusing on plastic enclosures, thermal management, and design controls.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of hands-on experience, including 3+ years in medical devices, and strong CAD skills (SolidWorks) with familiarity in Minitab for analysis. Bay Area on-site role with opportunities to lead cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on product development experience, with 3+ years in medical devices.
• At least one product taken from concept through commercial launch.
• Experience with plastic enclosures for electromechanical products (handhelds, chargers, controllers, or home-use devices).
• Knowledge of FDA design controls, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 60601-1.
• Advanced SolidWorks or comparable CAD skills; proficiency with statistical tools such as Minitab.

We're partnered with an exciting medical device startup in the Bay Area, looking for an experienced medical device Senior Mechanical Engineer to help bring their product through to launch.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on product development experience (5+ with an MS), with at least 3 years in medical devices.
• At least one product taken from concept through commercial launch.
• Strong experience with plastic enclosures for electromechanical products, such as handhelds, chargers, controllers or home-use devices.
• Demonstrated thermal management experience, including heat-sinking, airflow and simulation.
• Working knowledge of FDA design controls, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and IEC 60601-1.
• Advanced SolidWorks or comparable CAD skills, and comfort with statistical tools such as Minitab.
• A track record of owning projects end to end in a lean team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with sleep-related, bedding, textile-integrated or wearable products.
• Durable medical equipment or other home-use electromechanical device experience.
