Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Eglin AFB, FL. The position requires an advanced degree in mechanical engineering (ABET) and extensive DoD/USG ISR/SOF program experience.

You will lead design, analysis, and maintenance efforts for complex mechanical systems, supervise technicians, and develop robust repair strategies for aircraft and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET) with 10 years of relevant experience, 5 in DoD/USG ISR/SOF.
• Or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET) with 12 years of experience, 5 in DoD/USG ISR/SOF.
• Must have on aircraft/on wing experience; depot maintenance on military aircraft; experience in MRO and evaluating non-conformances.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex equipment and systems.
• Apply advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.
• Analyze assigned tasks to provide estimates of manpower and material required to complete.
• Prepare schedules for accomplishing tasks within estimates; supervise fabrication and installation of complex mechanical and related electronic equipment and systems.
• May direct field operation and maintenance activities of mechanical equipment/systems installations.
• Evaluate operational systems and design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
• Develop new applications requiring originality and complex test procedures for equipment and systems.

Mechanical Engineer

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer located at Eglin AFB, FL

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Mech Engineering (ABET required) and ten years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in Mech Engineering (ABET required) and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
• Must have on aircraft/on wing experience; depot maintenance on military aircraft; specifically:
  • Working in an MRO environment
  • Evaluating non-conformances
  • Designing structural repairs
  • Troubleshooting mechanical systems (Landing gear , flight controls etc)

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for providing guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems, and to investigate, evaluate and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems.
• Determines theoretical principles involved and applying advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.
• Analyzes assigned tasks to provide estimates of manpower and material required to complete.
• Prepares schedules for accomplishing tasks within estimates. Supervises and coordinates technicians in fabrication and installation of complex mechanical and related electronic equipment and systems.
• May direct field operation and maintenance activities of mechanical equipment/systems installations.
• Evaluates operational systems and designs modification to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
• Develops new applications requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity, and complex test procedures for equipment and systems which are significantly different from existing designs.
• Plans, organizes and conducts the development of each assignment; coordinates manpower assigned to each activity and coordinates the activities of group involved in various stages of overall program to ensure effective integration.
• Provides technical guidance to personnel involved with producing design fabrication drawings.
• Reviews and corrects drawings to ensure proper engineering techniques and required specification have been utilized.
• Develops, releases and maintains documentation in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
• Reviews, writes and edits reports such as evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, etc. to provide recommendations, conclusions, and other data.
