Job summary

MK2 Engineers, located in Fairfield, CA, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Designer to lead mechanical system design for diverse facilities, from healthcare to schools. The role demands strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach to deliver high-quality MEP solutions.

You will perform HVAC load calculations, coordinate with architects and civil/structural engineers, and oversee QA/QC across schematic to construction administration.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of mechanical system design experience in a US-based A/E firm or design-build contractor.
  • California PE license.
  • LEED AP or ability to become accredited.
  • BSME degree from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in California mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes, including Title 24 Energy Standards.
  • Knowledge of energy modeling software.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Fire sprinkler design is also a plus.
  • Expertise in HVAC energy modeling software.
  • Revit and AutoCAD MEP experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication coupled with strong organizational and people skills.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, especially under deadline situations.

Responsibilities

  • Concepts and documentation from schematic through construction administration phases.
  • Design and layout of mechanical systems for new construction, retrofits, and system upgrades.
  • HVAC load calculations plus air and water pressure drop calculations.
  • Mechanical System selection.
  • Determine project scheduling requirements, workforce requirements, and project budgets.
  • Assemble design drawings and documents.
  • Oversee QA/QC process of projects, including drafting.
  • Prepare specifications, technical reports, and system narratives.
  • Prepare and document required code research for projects.
  • Site investigations, field visits, and construction administration.
  • Interface with team members of other disciplines in our integrated collaborative environment.
  • Coordinate with Architect, Civil and Structural engineers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and services and participate in their implementation.

Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Designer

MK2 Engineers is looking for an exceptional individual to fill the role of Mechanical Engineer for our growing mechanical department. The successful candidate will be committed to results and have a strong sense of personal responsibility for company performance. The candidate will be able to maintain a high-level perspective coupled with a strong attention to detail.

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the quality and quantity of mechanical engineering design products. They will work with other engineering staff to provide engineering solutions for our projects in various commercial, institutional, governmental, winery, school, and healthcare facilities.

MK2 Engineers is an established consulting engineering firm with 26 years of experience specializing in designing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical building systems. Its primary office is located in the Green Valley neighborhood of Fairfield, California. Compensation:

Competitive salary and benefits based on experience

Workload and Schedule

The workload for this position requires at least 40 hours per week. MK2 Engineers supports a flexible work schedule, which can be negotiated with management.
