Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Edmond, OK facility. You will steer product design from concept through introduction, applying engineering fundamentals to ensure feasibility and optimization.

You will analyze new and existing designs to meet performance targets and drive industry engagement. The role requires leading design reviews, developing prototypes, and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to maintain cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3-7 years of hands-on industry experience with product design and engineering analysis FE certification
• FE Certification required or able to obtain within 6 months

Summary/Objectives:Design and development of new products and improvements to existing products or product lines. Evaluates and ensures design feasibility and design optimization. Apply knowledge of Engineering principles to design and approve component and assembly designs for products used in the traffic and utility industries.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will participate in the product design process from the generation of concept design solutions through the product introduction. Senior Mechanical Engineer will also be responsible for conducting analysis on new and existing designs to ensure the product meets defined performance criteria. This position is expected to become active and engaged within the industry and contribute to the company on a high level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following(other duties may be assigned):

• Research and develop designs that provide solutions with minimal supervision
• Create design concepts and layouts utilizing Autodesk Inventor
• Consistent reliable attendance and punctuality at assigned work location.
• Generate Engineering documentation and calculations on product designs requiring conformance to standards such as but not limited to AASHTO, FHWA and MUTCD.
• Use the ECO process to manage all engineering changes and adapt the ECO process to better serve the engineering department
• Verify designs through engineering analysis andmanufacturability
• Sign off on test reports for the execution of physical testing for verification and correlation of developed Engineering documentation.
• Research customer and agency requirements for new product development projects.
• Develop prototypes for new products
• Sign off on first article inspection reports with confirmation of form, fit and function of new parts
• Lead design reviews with other Design Engineers, key marketing employees and manufacturing personnel.
• Lead DFM (Design for manufacturing) efforts with outside suppliers and internal employees to ensure proper and efficient manufacturing processes for new products
• Assist in the develop of preliminary bills of materials for all new products.
• Ensure new designs meet cost and budget parameters.
• Ensure product compliance to all regulatory and safety agency standards.
• Lead VAVE efforts to implement cost savings in current product lines
• Maintain timelines and deliverables for engineering projects
• Provide training and support to teammembers.
• Become active in industry committees and attend relevant conferences

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
• 3-7 years of hands-on industry experience with product design and engineering analysis FE certification

Preferred:

• Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor 3D modeling.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis inInventor
• Experience with castings, extrusions, injection molding and manufacturing processes
• PE License or ability to obtain within 6 months

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Work environment is not climate-controlled. The noise level may exceed permissible exposure limit and hearing protection may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-Time. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00AM - 5:00PM. 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. Hours are subject to change at any time.

Travel:

Occasional travel is expected for this position.
