Job summary

Qualifications

Job Description

As our new senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working across a wide range of mechanical design knowledge areas and have a desired focus area in HVAC design of chemical, power, and/or industrial facilities. The candidate will work alongside other experienced and entry level engineers in an environment where sharing knowledge to develop innovative technically sound designs is considered the key to success.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
  • Experience designing large scale hydronic systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including the IFC, NFPA standards and FM Global guidelines.
  • Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segment.
  • Desire and ability to work at industrial facilities gathering data for designs (expect <10% travel).
  • Detail oriented individual.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit is preferred.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Perform design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline. Most of the work will be related to heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); however, the candidate should also expect work in industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
  • Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Create design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
  • Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
  • Assess and design building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Conduct spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
  • Utilize building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
  • Specify mechanical equipment.
  • Design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Summarize engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
  • Visit job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems. A mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips should be expected.
  • Adhere to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll's Project Execution Manual.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll's Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
Salary Transparency

The U.S. pay range for this position is $115,000 - $140,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime or other forms of compensation or benefits. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
