US Engineering

HaloBraid is a hair technology company using breakthrough engineering to elevate everyday routines. We’re building the world’s first robotic hair‑braiding system—integrating computer vision, robotics, compliant fiber manipulation, and novel mechatronic machines. This is one of the hardest unsolved problems in robotics, applied to a $300B industry.

8 billion hours are spent braiding hair each year. HaloBraid gives that time back. The system collaborates with professional stylists to reduce braiding appointments from 6 hours to minutes and grow their business. Our technology works. We’re moving from R&D into deployment with salons, well‑funded by leading investors. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the hair styling industry.

Responsibilities
  • Architect the design of mechanical systems and sub‑assemblies from 3D CAD to production‑ready parts.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, industrial design, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, users, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Manage engineers, set best practices and standards, and strengthen our engineering culture.
  • Push for elegant and effective solutions, challenge status quo, and drive design forward.
  • This is a hands‑on engineering role that reports directly to the CEO.
Requirements
  • Experience with CAD and mechanical design of complex robotics or consumer electronics, and direct ownership of systems or subsystems.
  • Experience with all stages of the concept to production cycle (rapid prototyping, DFM, contract manufacturing).
  • Experience bringing novel technology to market.
Desired Skills & Experience (optional but the more, the better)
  • Experience with mechanisms, mechatronics, and moving components.
  • Complementary engineering experience:
    • DFM/DFA principles and mass manufacturing methods.
    • Design optimization integrating CFD simulation results.
    • Electronics prototyping.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers at the prototype and contract manufacturing stage.
  • Experience managing CAD systems and general assemblies.
  • Experience working with industrial design to incorporate user needs, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
Working Style
  • User centric, you want to build stuff people use and love.
  • Low ego, adaptable, and collaborative spirit.
  • Excited to learn through fast‑paced iteration and user feedback.
  • Passionate, driven by innovation.
  • Excellent communication, an ability to concisely convey and discuss complex ideas.
Benefits of Working With Us
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • 100% medical premium coverage.
  • Meaningful equity.
  • 12 company holidays and unlimited PTO.
  • Company subsidised parking or commute for onsite employees.
