The role emphasizes developing volume-production methods, performing FEA, and driving cost-effective reliability improvements in fast-paced projects.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics with 3+ years in industry.
• Experience designing and debugging electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling software; SolidWorks and Onshape preferred; FEA (ANSYS) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Create novel electro-mechanical mechanisms for a mobile robotics platform.
• Validate designs using rapid prototyping fabrication methods.
• Build, debug and support prototype robots.
• Develop designs for volume production: casting, injection molding, stamping, etc.
• Perform failure modes analysis.
• Create work instructions for fabricating robotic systems.
• Develop concepts to meet design requirements.

• Redesign robotic systems for volume manufacturing focusing on reliability and cost.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

What you’ll do:

• Create novel electro-mechanical mechanisms and systems for a mobile robotics platform and validate them using rapid prototyping fabrication methods
• Build, debug and support prototype robots
• Develop designs for volume production methods, knowledge of casting, injection molding, stamping, and other volume production processes
• Perform failure modes analysis
• Create work instructions for fabricating robotic systems
• Develop concepts for systems to meet design requirements
• Support robot deployments at customer sites as required
• Redesign robotic systems for volume manufacturing, focusing on reliability and cost optimization

Ideal Candidates

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics with3+ years of industry experience
• Experience designing and debugging electromechanical systems
• Proficiency in designing parts and assemblies using 3D modeling software (Solidworks and Onshape preferred). FEA experience (ANSYS preferred) an asset.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
• Hands on experience with 3D printing, sheet metal design, casting, injection molding, prototype manufacturing and assembly

Nice to have:

• Experience drafting engineering drawings, conducting tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, etc.
• Experience with embedded and edge devices, programming, industrial engineering, electrical system selection and design a plus
