Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced Lithium-Ion battery products, enclosures, and mechanical components using SolidWorks CAD, taking concepts through to full production release.

  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, assemblies, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and comprehensive product documentation.

  • Develop multiple design concepts and prototypes to meet customer requirements and product performance, safety, and reliability targets.

  • Perform product testing and validation, analyze results, and implement design improvements to optimize performance, durability, and safety.

  • Evaluate designs for cost, manufacturability, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance, applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

  • Support vendor development and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, weldments, and injection molding, and collaborate with suppliers to resolve design and production challenges.

  • Manage technical data, configuration control, and design revisions using SolidWorks PDM, ERP systems, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

  • Conduct tolerance stack‑up analysis and apply sound mechanical design fundamentals, including strength of materials and structural design considerations.

  • Integrate electrical components within mechanical systems for electro‑mechanical products such as battery packs, energy storage systems, and power electronics enclosures.

  • Apply thermal management and enclosure design principles to ensure safe and reliable operation of battery systems and related products.

  • Support prototype builds, product validation, and production launch activities, including hands‑on testing, design reviews, and manufacturing support.

  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to drive product development and resolve technical issues.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues, providing practical, data‑driven solutions in a fast‑paced product development environment.

  • Contribute to product lifecycle management from concept through production release, ensuring documentation accuracy and configuration integrity.

  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and development processes.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience in a product development environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation, with 1,000+ hours of hands‑on experience preferred.

  • Extensive experience creating 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in SolidWorks.

  • Experience utilizing SolidWorks PDM for document control, configuration management, and revision control.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including tolerancing, strength of materials, material selection, and structural design.

  • Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering documentation, and design revisions.

  • Proven ability to design mechanical products and systems in a manufacturing environment, including sheet metal, weldments, and injection molded components.

  • Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

  • Experience conducting tolerance stack‑up analysis and applying engineering fundamentals to optimize designs.

  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations related to structural, thermal, and mechanical performance.

  • Experience with electro‑mechanical product design and integration of electrical components within mechanical systems.
