Job summary

TALENT Software Services seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Technician/Designer in Painted Post, NY for a 1-year, 100% on-site engagement. The role focuses half on design and half on installation, prototyping, and assembly, transforming concepts into manufacturable designs using SolidWorks and PDM.

Minimum HS diploma with 5 years hands-on mechanical design experience required; strong shop measurement skills and an independent, problem-solving mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HS Diploma. Degree not required.
• 5 years proven hands-on experience required.
• Proven capability in mechanical design, detailing, manufacturing support, and equipment development.
• Proficiency using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete mechanical designs from sketches, concepts, and direction.
• Create 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
• Generate and maintain BOMs and part specifications in SolidWorks PDM.
• Source and procure components with internal teams and external vendors.
• Interface with suppliers to specify and procure mechanical components.
• Apply tolerancing, fit, and manufacturability principles.
• Produce manufacturing-ready documentation for shops and vendors.
• Support prototype construction, assembly, and testing.
• Verify design intent through fit-up and assembly activities.
• Participate in design reviews and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain documentation and revision control throughout lifecycle.
• Support installation and commissioning activities as required.
