Job summary

Galloway & Company, Inc. is seeking a senior-level mechanical engineering designer to work on HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. You’ll collaborate with project teams and public agencies, performing hands-on design tasks and applying industry-standard practices to real projects.

You will grow through direct mentorship from experienced engineers, own assignments, and contribute to client relationships while building a strong foundation for your career in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Requires basic understanding of mechanical and plumbing engineering and architecture.
• Must understand project schedules and budgets and work efficiently within guidelines.
• Proficient in Revit for design tasks and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks to develop general knowledge, applying standard techniques for CAD and mechanical engineering tasks.
• Make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering options with limited judgment.
• Carry out specific portions of broader assignments under supervision.
• Apply standard practices and adjust data, following steps and processes.
• Perform mechanical design calculations (HVAC, plumbing, piping) and sketches under supervision.
• Research code issues and coordinate with city, state, and county officials.
• Research design options and document findings for engineers and managers.
• Contribute to business development by providing quality production to build client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments designed to develop professional general knowledge and abilities, requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria needed to carry out a sequence of related CADD and mechanical engineering tasks.
• Assumes limited degree of judgment on work details and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
• Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of an experienced engineer’s broader assignment.
• Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related and detailed steps or processes.
• Performs mechanical design calculations (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, process piping, etc.), sketches, technical comparisons, and similar technical work as required by assignment under direct supervision of the project engineer.
• Research code issues and works with city, state, and county officials.
• Research design options and documents findings for project engineers and/or project managers.
• Takes an active role in new business development by performing quality production work to build strong relationships with existing clients.

Qualifications

• Possesses basic understanding of principles and practices of mechanical and plumbing engineering and architecture.
• Possesses basic understanding of approval and permitting process for projects.
• Understands project schedules and budgets; is able to work efficiently within project guidelines.
• Communicates in a timely and effective manner within the team and with various agencies and other disciplines working on project.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks or projects.

Education:

• Associate or technical degree in Drafting/Design.

Experience:

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design, specific emphasis in national retail rollout programs preferred.

The estimated starting base salary for this role is $ 87,000-104,000
