Job summary

Form Energy is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead structural analysis for its Gen 2 energy storage system. You will drive FEA and hand calculations to optimize performance, reliability, and manufacturability, with emphasis on load cases and design validation.

You will collaborate with designers and test teams to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions while supporting scale-up of our multi‑day storage technology. Relocation assistance is available and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 7+ years of mechanical design and structural analysis experience.
• Experience leading design work for complex mechanical structures using Ansys FEA (dynamic/static, linear/nonlinear).
• Proficiency in mass-manufacturing design for sheet metal, weldments, and assemblies; CAD experience with SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis of Gen 2 product designs using Ansys FEA and hand calculations.
• Establish best practices for analysis methodology and pass/fail criteria for load cases.
• Create calculator tools (e.g., spreadsheets) for standard load cases and joint analyses.
• Collaborate with designers and test engineers to validate designs through test and FEA correlation.
• Travel up to 10% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites.
