Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to drive hardware development for High Speed IO products used in data centers.

You will conceptualize, design, verify, and qualify components and assemblies for manufacturability and reliability. You will work with suppliers and global teams, lead design reviews, perform DFMEA/FTA and GD&T, select materials, and interact with customers to translate requirements into robust

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven knowledge of mechanical analysis (static/dynamic loading).
• Experience with risk assessment and mitigation in designs.
• Proficiency in CAD for design and concepting (SolidWorks preferred).
• Proficiency with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).
• Knowledge of GD&T principles and material selection.
• Experience with mechanical/environmental testing.
• Ability to work in a project team and lead others; data center infra familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop hardware to integrate IO connectors into customer systems.
• Perform Design FMEA, Tolerance Analysis, DFM, FEA, and Risk Analysis.
• Define customer needs and functional performance requirements; assess technical risk.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing to optimize production processes.
• Lead product design reviews.
• Verify accuracy of drawings and proper GD&T usage.
• Work with Materials Engineering to select metals/polymers for performance and cost.
• Interact with customers during development, present concepts, and incorporate feedback.
• Contribute to defining product, application, and packaging specs and test plans.
• Manage first article inspections and transition to manufacturing with NPI teams.
• Mentor global associates as needed during development.
