Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design and development of high‑performance aerospace hardware. You will drive mechanical design from concept through production, perform analyses, and support multiple programs while ensuring quality and schedule adherence.

The role requires a strong background in aerospace/defense design, GD&T proficiency, and experience with CAD/CAE tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of experience designing aerospace, defense, or other highly engineered products and systems.
• Strong mechanical design background with expertise in engineering drawing standards and design best practices.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Experience utilizing CAD and CAE tools to support product development and analyses.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and development of mechanical systems, structural hardware, and mechanisms from concept through production readiness.
• Creating innovative engineering solutions that meet customer requirements, performance objectives, and environmental constraints.
• Performing engineering calculations, trade studies, tolerance analyses, and evaluations to support design decisions.
• Supporting multiple development programs while maintaining quality, schedule, and technical objectives.
• Reviewing and validating engineering analyses, calculations, and design outputs for accuracy and compliance.
• Generating complete design packages including BOMs, assembly drawings, and release documentation.
• Collaborating with manufacturing, quality, systems, and test engineering teams to transition designs into production.
• Providing technical support for prototype builds, hardware integration, development testing, and qualification efforts.
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to engineering best practices.
• Applying sound engineering judgment to solve complex challenges in aerospace and defense applications.
