Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to head the buildout, startup, and handover of mechanical systems for hyperscale data centers. In this senior hands-on role, you will direct commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and turnover of cooling, air handling, and fluid distribution systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive hands-on mechanical commissioning experience in data centers or critical environments, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Deep expertise in data center cooling systems including large-scale chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, precision air handling, chilled water plants, and high-density liquid cooling.
• Strong working knowledge of commissioning test equipment and instrumentation.
• Familiar with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASME, IMC, LEED, and Uptime Institute standards.
• Current OSHA 30 certification and proven safety leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical commissioning activities for HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Direct functional performance testing, airflow verification, system balancing, and turnover.
• Oversee troubleshooting during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup.
• Develop and approve commissioning test procedures, scripts, and documentation.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, design engineers, and stakeholders for energization and startup.
• Mentor technicians and provide technical direction.
• Maintain as-built documentation and final commissioning reports; present readiness to leadership.
• Participate in constructability reviews and lessons-learned meetings.
