Job summary

City of Albuquerque is seeking a skilled automotive mechanic to perform complex maintenance and repair of mechanical engines and diesel systems, diagnose electronic fuel and computer-controlled systems, and service a variety of heavy equipment. This safety-sensitive position requires reliable performance and adherence to policies.

Minimum education: high school diploma or GED with two years of tech training; three years of automotive maintenance experience; ASE certifications preferred; brake

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with two years technical training in automotive maintenance and mechanical repair.
• Three years of experience in minor and major automotive maintenance and mechanical repair of various vehicles and equipment.
• ASE certifications preferred; brake repair experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex maintenance and repair of mechanical engines and equipment, including diesel systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic defects in vehicles and equipment; interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance and update computer-based systems.
