Job summary

Smithfield Foods in the United States seeks a Senior Research & Development Technologist to lead in-plant experiments advancing packaging, product development, and process optimization in support of plant operations. You will apply meat science expertise to resolve quality challenges, ensure compliance with USDA/FDA standards, and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with QA, operations, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field with 5+ years in meat processing.
• Strong meat science knowledge and ingredient functionality.
• Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of USDA/FDA labeling and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and execute in-plant experiments to drive packaging and product development.
• Provide technical support to plant QA and operations on quality and processing issues.
• Identify process improvements and cost-saving opportunities while ensuring compliance.
