Job summary

Mach Industries in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a Senior MDAO Engineer to develop multidisciplinary design optimization workflows for vehicle sizing and performance analysis across Mach's product suite. You will work with configuration, performance, test, and discipline engineering teams to improve models and workflows used to evaluate vehicle concepts and determine mission capability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Aerospace or Mechanical/Mechanical Engineering required.
5+ years in aerospace engineering or advanced degree with equivalent experience.
Experience sizing/configuration trades, mission analysis, or performance assessment.
Broad understanding of aerodynamics, propulsion, mass properties, structures, controls, and mission performance.
Experience developing/modifying engineering analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, C++, Julia).
Ability to set up and interpret trade studies, optimization studies, or DOE.
Strong engineering judgment and clear communication in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Develop MDAO models, methods, and workflows for conceptual and preliminary vehicle design.
Support vehicle sizing, configuration trades, mission analysis, and performance assessments.
Improve analytical tools for aerodynamics, propulsion, mass properties, structures, controls, and mission performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure MDAO workflows reflect real design needs.
Incorporate test data and operational data to improve model accuracy and future design decisions.
Conduct optimization studies, sensitivity analyses, and trade studies to identify key design drivers.
Define assumptions, constraints, objectives, and figures of merit for design studies.
Maintain workflows with version control, documentation, reproducibility, and testing.
Mentor engineers on modeling assumptions and trade study interpretation.
Contribute to the technical roadmap for MDAO capabilities.
