Job summary

Eurofins Scientific, based in Groton, CT, is seeking a Senior Scientist – Pharmaceutical Materials Scientist to lead advanced solid-state characterization of large bRo5 molecules and develop innovative screening strategies. The role involves collaboration with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation, and Biopharmaceutics to align solid form selection with clinical study goals.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree (MS) with 2+ years of experience or a PhD in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
• Experience in pharmaceutical solid state characterization techniques (XRD, PLM, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy) with strong data analysis.
• Experience with infrared spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, FT-Raman) and/or SSNMR.
• Experience solving materials science problems for large molecules using experimental approaches and collaboration.
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersion strategies and innovative screening strategies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced solid-state characterization of large bRo5 molecules.
• Apply novel crystallization techniques to recrystallize bRo5 molecules.
• Support multidisciplinary teams to define crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities.
• Collaborate to define screening and characterization strategies for solid form selection in clinical studies.
• Solve scientific problems using contemporary Materials Science techniques.
• Contribute to development of new scientific approaches within Materials Science.
• Maintain accurate electronic lab notebook entries per good practice.
