Varda Space Industries, Inc. seeks a Principal Materials and Process Engineer to set technical direction for materials and processes across the company as build cadence scales.

You will lead special processes for flight hardware, including ablative TPS, coatings, polymers, and metallic structures, and guide RCCAs and MRBs with cross-functional teams. You will mentor engineers, define specs and test plans, and help establish in-house materials lab capabilities to support rapid, reliable space

Competenze

• BS degree in a materials/engineering field or equivalent experience.
• Experience developing and qualifying flight-safe materials and processes.
• Ability to author specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Proven track record in corrosion, coatings, or wetted chemistry contexts.

Mansioni

• Develop and maintain special processes for flight hardware (TPS, coatings, polymers).
• Lead process qualification, validation, and acceptance activities.
• Manage RCCAs, MRB, and failure investigations for material issues.
• Define tooling, fixtures, and cleanliness requirements for processes.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and suppliers across programs.
• Mentor engineers and help scale materials capability in-house.
