Job summary

Archer, an aerospace and defense innovator based in San Jose, seeks an Sr Materials Planner / Buyer to own material readiness for new builds. You will translate schedules and BOMs into phased requirements and lead procurement with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

In this fast-paced role, you’ll collaborate with Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management, improving procurement processes while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with 5+ years in procurement or supply chain.
  • Experience in program management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiar with supplier management and BOM/lead-time planning.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end material readiness for new product and equipment builds.
  • Translate schedules, BOMs, inventory, orders, and lead times into material plans.
  • Manage procurement execution with suppliers; align demand and commitments.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, delivery, receipt and issue resolution.
  • Support the 'clear to build' report by reconciling BOM, inventory, and changes.
  • Address shortages and late deliveries to protect build schedules.

What you'll do:



  • Position: Sr Materials Planner / Buyer. Full time

  • Own end-to-end material readiness for new product and equipment builds

  • Translate build schedules, BOMs, inventory, open orders, and lead times into time-phased material requirements.

  • Own material planning and purchasing execution with suppliers, including demand alignment, supplier commits, shortages, inventory visibility, and build readiness

  • Own purchase order creation, confirmation, delivery, receipt, and issue resolution

  • Own the clear to build report by reconciling BOM, inventory, open orders, and engineering change orders

  • Identify and resolve shortage and late deliveries before they affect build schedules

  • Manage supplier relationships to drive on-time delivery and resolve issues

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and incomplete information

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to align on procurement program needs

  • Support continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems


What you need:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of related experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain roles

  • Experience as a Supply Chain Manager or Procurement Manager supporting contract manufacturers is strongly preferred

  • Working familiarity with program/project management principles and practices

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment


Bonus Qualifications:



  • APICS/ASCM certification or equivalent

  • Experience with SAP for complex product manufacturing

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $94,000.00 - $117,500.00. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
