We are seeking an energetic, organized, and collaborative Senior Planner to support manufacturing operations in Aiken, SC. This position will focus primarily on materials planning, MRP, production planning, and material availability to ensure customer and production requirements are met.
The ideal candidate is an analytical and proactive problem solver who understands how materials, suppliers, purchasing, inventory, and production schedules work together. This person will investigate root causes of material and delivery issues, advise internal teams, coordinate with suppliers, and help ensure materials are available when needed.
Candidates with a minimum of 2 years of relevant materials planning, MRP, or production planning experience will be considered. A degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field is preferred but may be substituted by significant relevant experience. Recent Supply Chain graduates with applicable internship, co-op, or planning experience may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of materials planning, MRP, production planning, or related manufacturing planning experience
- Hands-on understanding of MRP and material requirements
- Strong understanding of production planning, material availability, lead times, and deliverability
- Ability to analyze material and delivery issues and identify root causes
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Purchasing, Production, Suppliers, Accounting, and other departments
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills
- SAP or comparable ERP experience, with SAP preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field
- APICS certification
- Purchasing or procurement experience
- Manufacturing or industrial production experience
- Experience establishing reorder points, quantities, and supplier lead times
- Experience with supplier negotiations, expediting, and delivery performance
- Experience with non-conforming materials and supplier-related quality issues
- Recent Supply Chain graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience will be considered
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Plan materials and production requirements to support the Master Production Schedule
- Monitor MRP requirements and ensure materials are available to support production
- Develop and maintain production plans and release production orders within required timeframes
- Monitor inventory, lead times, backorders, and potential material shortages
- Investigate root causes of material and delivery issues and develop practical solutions
- Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers to expedite materials and improve deliverability
- Communicate material shortages, supplier issues, and expected delivery dates to affected departments
- Research alternative sources of supply and materials when necessary
- Review and process purchasing requirements while supporting competitive sourcing and cost-control efforts
- Maintain accurate SAP/ERP planning and purchasing data
- Work with vendors and Accounting to resolve purchase order and invoice discrepancies
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding rejected or non-conforming materials and related dispositions
- Build productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, material availability, quality, and cost
- Stay informed on commodity, supplier, and manufacturing developments
- Support plant-wide safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
