Rivian Automotive is seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to guide mold-in-color and painted plastics development from prototyping through validation and production. You will collaborate with Product Development and CMF to ensure design intent aligns with engineering feasibility.

The role requires 5–7+ years in materials engineering (automotive preferred) and a BS in Materials Science or Engineering, with a Master’s preferred. Expect collaboration across global vendors and travel up to 10%.

Formación

• B.S. in Materials Science or Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• 5–7+ years of materials engineering experience, automotive background preferred.
• Knowledge of decorative materials and polymeric films is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication across teams.

Responsabilidades

• Development & Prototyping: Drive material selection for mold-in-color and painted plastics.
• Validation & Standards: Author Rivian Materials Standards and lead material sign-offs.
• Advanced Materials & Sustainability: Lead R&D on durability, stain resistance, and cleanability.
• Production & Issue Resolution: Conduct root cause analysis for material issues with vendors.
• Digital Validation: Provide material modeling data for CAE simulations.
• Supplier Collaboration: Evaluate and develop material suppliers with QA and Purchasing.
