Job summary

Credence is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to support the Agile Weapons Division (AFLCMC/EBX) onsite at Eglin AFB, FL. The role focuses on designing, testing, fielding and sustaining warhead materials in an integrated digital environment, contributing to hypersonic programs like FYHP, ARRW and HACM.

The candidate must hold an active Secret clearance (Top-Secret eligibility preferred), with extensive experience in materials engineering and defense programs.

Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance required with ability to obtain Top-Secret
  • Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience in the discipline
  • Master’s degree with 15+ years of experience in the discipline
  • PhD with 5+ years of experience in the discipline
  • ABET-accredited engineering degree required (date of accreditation)

Responsibilities

  • Advise on design, development, qualification and testing of warheads and materials
  • Support metals, ceramics, plastics, coatings and other materials meeting agency requirements
  • Provide material composition, fabrication and processing guidance for system-level use
  • Perform life-cycle tasks including testing, corrosion control, failure analysis and inspection techniques

Position Summary

Credence has an immediate need for a Materials Engineer at the senior level supporting the Agile Weapons Division (AFLCMC/EBX). EBX is responsibility for delivering weapon capabilities with speed and agility by designing, testing, fielding, producing, and sustaining in an integrated digital environment and manages the Air Force’s leading hypersonic weapons programs. These programs include the Future Hypersonic Program (FYHP), Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW), and the Hypersonic Air-Launched Cruise Missile (HACM). EBX fully leverages Open, Agile and Digital concepts, often from program inception, to shorten acquisition timelines and deliver capabilities at the speed of relevance.

This job is onsite at Eglin AFB, FL.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the duties listed below:
  • Advise and assist in the design, development, qualification and testing, mechanical design, manufacturing, energetic fills, penetration modeling, test and evaluation, technical data package configuration management, warhead performance, aircraft integration, fatigue and stress analysis, insensitive munitions, and composites of warheads in accordance with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-2105C.
  • Support efforts related to working with metals, ceramics, plastics, coatings, fluids, or other substances to create new materials or identify new uses for materials that meet agency requirements.
  • Provide materials engineering support to determine and advise on material composition, atomic and molecular configuration, fabrication and processing techniques, and the best materials or combinations of materials for use in systems.
  • Perform tasks in support of various life-cycle stages, including testing and evaluating materials, corrosion control, failure analysis, developing or revising inspection techniques, specification standards, and maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and twenty (20) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed
  • OR a master’s degree in a related field and at least fifteen (15) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed
  • OR PhD (Doctorate) degree in a related field and at least five (5) years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed
  • All engineering support requiring a bachelor’s degree or greater have an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college of engineering degree. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for these requirements. The degree must have been received in the year of, or any year after, the original date of accreditation.
