Compensation: Competitive & Negotiable (Dependent upon experience) + Bonus Potential
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Materials Buyer to lead procurement strategies and power production across our growing Ohio manufacturing facilities. In this high-visibility role, you will bridge the gap between supply chain strategy and shop-floor execution—partnering directly with leadership, engineering, quality, and plant operations to ensure raw material availability, optimize inventory, and build resilient vendor partnerships.
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute purchasing strategies for raw materials and key components across multiple facilities; negotiate pricing, terms, and issue POs aligned with production schedules.
Materials & Inventory Planning: Monitor demand signals, manage stock levels to minimize holding costs/obsolescence, and drive rapid-recovery actions for material shortages.
Supplier Relationship Management: Evaluate, track, and optimize vendor performance across cost, lead times, quality standards, and on-time delivery metrics.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Production on new product introductions (NPI), engineering change orders (ECOs), and process improvements.
Systems & Data Analytics: Maintain integrity within our ERP system, delivering regular reporting on cost-savings initiatives, market commodity trends, and key supply chain metrics.
Floor Engagement: Spend meaningful time on the production floor working alongside plant operations to ensure inventory accuracy and proactively resolve supply constraints.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Science (equivalent practical manufacturing procurement experience will also be considered).
Experience: 5+ years of progressive purchasing, procurement, or materials management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data modeling, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
Core Competencies: Proven background in contract negotiation, vendor management, ethical sourcing, and problem-solving under tight operational deadlines.
Active ASCM/APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or ISM certification (CPSM).
Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement workflows, or global/international sourcing.
We believe in supporting our team members so they can drive operational success. Along with a collaborative, employee-centered company culture (complete with team events, food trucks, and regular celebrations), we offer a competitive total rewards package:
Comprehensive Healthcare: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage (eligible after just 30 days).
Retirement Planning: 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting.
Work-Life Integration: Flexible PTO program to support healthy work-life balance.
Growth & Education: Tuition reimbursement opportunities to invest in your career development.
Financial Incentives: Quarterly and annual bonus potential.
Tools for Success: Company-provided laptop, phone, and full expense reimbursement.
