Job summary

APL Logistics in Sacramento is seeking a Warehouse Associate to perform loading, unloading, and storage of customer products using forklifts and related equipment. You will load orders, inspect trailers, and maintain accurate production records in a safety‑conscious environment.

This full‑time role requires forklift/tow motor experience, basic math, attention to detail and teamwork. Benefits include vacation, holidays, health coverage and a company bonus plan.

Qualifications

  • Two years forklift/tow motor experience preferred and forklift certification required.
  • Ability to operate forklift–sit down, stand up, tow motor, pallet jack, clamp, reach, slip sheet.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse procedures.
  • Ability to read basic instructions, safety rules, and procedures; write legibly and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and load customer products using forklift and power equipment; record counts.
  • Unload, move, stack and stage products; complete paperwork (BOL, Pick Report, Trailer Audit).
  • Inspect and maintain equipment; report defects.
  • Prepare trailers for loading and ensure product preservation; maintain clean, safe areas.

Job Description

Overview:

Provides warehouse services assigned through safe, efficient, cost effective and accurate handling of customer products and material using specially equipped trucks such as slips-sheet, clamps and reach. This position may involve all phases of loading, unloading, staging and storage of customer's product as well as the use of computer equipment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Pulling Orders

  • Accurately locate and load, both by hand and using appropriate motorized equipment (i.e., forklift truck), customer product onto/from pallets, trays, racks and shelves according to established procedures and safety regulations. Is able to operate special equipment as necessary, such as a turret clamp and slip sheet equipment and RF unit (if applicable).
  • Count, weigh and record number of units of materials handled on daily production sheet.
  • Complete specialized order processing for loading by stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling and consolidating as required on order.

Operating & Maintenance - Equipment and Grounds

  • Assign / verify trailers to appropriate dock and/or yard location, trailers locked to dock-lock and/ or chocking the wheels (if applicable), following all safety rules and Company policy.
  • Daily inspect and repair or make adjustments before operating tow-motor vehicles, following safety and maintenance instructions, completing the tow-motor inspection sheet at the beginning of each shift and/or assigned to another piece of equipment; report immediately any defective equipment to supervisor.
  • Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed to ensure product preservation.
  • Assists in building and grounds maintenance to ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean, neat safe and orderly manner.

Loading & Unloading

  • Load picked orders or (pull & load) according to policies and procedures, completing appropriate paperwork including Bill of Lading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit and Lot Verification.
  • Unload, move, stack and stage customer products and materials both by hand and using forklift or other power equipment, keeping appropriate records and reports.

Reports

  • Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist in physical inventories ensuring facility and contents are secure.
  • Provide other services such as sanitation requirement activities, assembling crates (boxes) to contain products, and/or moving loose materials to containers as directed by supervisor and/or team leader.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Follow basic mandatory work instructions(including use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguardthe environment and the wellbeingof oneself and others.

Additional Information

  • Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business process, increase proficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination.
  • Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility.
  • Position requires the incumbent’s performance to meet and occasionally exceed standards as set by the company for warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivity and customer service.

Experience

  • Preferred two (2) years forklift/tow motor experience required (forklift certification required).
  • Ability to operate forklift – both sit down and stand up, tow motor, motorized and non-motorized pallet jack; clamp, reach and slip sheet.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures
  • Ability to write legibly
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Ability to make decisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use
  • Must have attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention
  • Must be a Team Player
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner

The hourly wage for this position is $20.50.
