Job summary

Whitefish Search Partners has been retained to identify a Planning & Scheduling Director for a growing manufacturing client. The role reports to the COO and will lead a team of 4–5 direct reports within a 400-person operation, fostering a down-to-earth culture.

The Master Planner and Scheduler will balance supply and demand, implement scheduling best practices, and coordinate across sales, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics to meet delivery dates and business plans.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics.
• Collaborate with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate resources to best serve customer needs.
• Schedule demand based on product mix and provide accurate lead times to sales.
• Assemble master schedule reporting regarding performance to the business plan, shipment plan, inventory plan, and production plan.
• Manage load leveling and bottlenecks for more accurate scheduling.
• Analyze and report production hours through work centers.
• Establish, measure, monitor and adjust capacity levels to execute all manufacturing schedules.
• Determine available capacity before planned orders are released.
• Engage in capacity management during sales and operations planning and forecasting.
• Collaborate with purchasing to compare current and anticipated orders with available raw materials; communicate additional supplies needed.
• Integrate sales orders with master schedule; coordinate equipment and staff availability to meet delivery dates.
• Alert appropriate staff of master schedule changes or delays.
• Participate in forecasting meetings with sales and related departments; lead planning meetings with sales, purchasing, production, and shipping.
• Assist with capacity requirements during the annual operating plan.
• Plan/recommend changes in capacity to hit target levels.
• Set up and maintain work center and work groups in ERP system.
• Report on-time delivery.
• Perform other related duties as required
