Job summary

Welltower is seeking a data-focused contributor to monitor master data, build robust financial reporting, and drive automation within the Accounting team. You will work closely with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, IT, and Software Engineering to ensure data integrity and efficient workflows.

The role involves SQL development, ETL, and dashboarding in Sigma and Power BI, with a blend of data management and technology enablement across multiple financial systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 3–5 years of work experience.
  • Proven ability to manage and gather data across multiple systems and data sets.
  • Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server and complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with ETL, reporting tools, and data automation preferred.
  • Familiarity with Yardi is a plus and openness to travel to Toledo.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this role is assisting the team in monitoring and analyzing master data within the organization, building the reporting that surfaces that data, and driving efficiencies through automation within the Accounting department. This role sits at the intersection of accounting and technology and partners daily with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, IT, and Software Engineering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure master data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the data quality.
  • Ensure quality of master data in key systems, as well as development and documentation of processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity.
  • Gain and maintain proficiency and expertise in relevant financial and accounting systems with ability to ensure data alignment and consistency, review in detail, drive process changes, and communicate to the different groups in the appropriate vernacular.
  • Assist in the day-to-day administration of multiple financial systems including Yardi, Blackline and Alteryx Server.
  • Incorporate additional subledger modules from Yardi into Blackline
  • Perform requirements gathering, analysis, implementation, testing and deployment of ETL processes and scripts.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL against Yardi and other enterprise financial databases to support reporting, reconciliations, data validation, and ETL, including complex multi-table joins, CTEs, window functions, and stored procedures.
  • Provide timely and effective technical support to internal customers to troubleshoot system issues and minimize downtime for the end user. Assist with data/problem/issue resolution, process improvement and resolving root causes for end user issues.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, including determining ways to automate financial reports from accounting systems.
  • Build and maintain SQL-based reports and interactive dashboards in Sigma and Power BI, and support the migration of existing reporting and workflows off Alteryx as we are retiring the use of the platform.
  • Partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, IT, and Software Engineering to gather reporting requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Information Systems/Data Management/Computer Science
  • 3-5 years work experience
  • Proven ability to manage and gather data across multiple systems and data sets
  • Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server - able to independently write and troubleshoot complex SQL (multi-table joins, CTEs, aggregation, window functions) against large transactional datasets
  • Alteryx, Python, Snowflake is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with Yardi is a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity towards learning business processes and implementing efficiencies
  • Strong communication - presentation, written, and verbal
  • Strong team player with a focus towards customer service
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-motivate and work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • A positive and professional attitude
  • Willingness travel to Toledo office periodically (if not located in Toledo)
