Job summary

Coinbase is building the future of institutional trading as part of the Everything Exchange. As a Senior Data Engineer, Market Data on the Institutional Markets team, you will build and operate the systems that capture, normalize, and distribute real-time market data across Coinbase at low latency.

You’ll design feed handlers, venue connectors, and distribution layers, and work with engineers and product managers to deliver market data capabilities across the platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience building low-latency systems.
• Hands-on experience with market data infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ with low-latency concerns.
• Familiarity with FIX, ITCH/OUCH, and multicast market data protocols.
• Experience shipping features end-to-end and operating in production.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain market data components including feed handlers, normalization pipelines, distribution systems, and venue connectivity.
• Design low-latency, high-throughput services for real-time market data.
• Improve reliability via observability, on-call participation, and incident response.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and contribute to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver market data capabilities.
